The Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in India was founded on November 25, 1970 in Dhani, Indore Diocese, Madhya Pradesh.
At present, there are about 120 sisters serving the poor, sick and needy with special focus on women and children in
different states: Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

Srs. Josephin, Pauli, Roshni, Gladys and Dhanya left for Germany on 7th November 2022 to attend GPR. We were happy to join our sisters from St. Joseph's Province, the Provincial leadership from Delhi Airport.
Fr. Xavior Mannavath, the President of CRI (Catholic Religious of India) visited Katherine Nivas, the Senior Citizen Home at Vidyanagar with Sr. Roshni, Sr. Gonzalo. Mr. and Mrs. Suresh the associates also joined them.
The pioneers of our Indian Province sisters had the privilege of having a gathering with our former General Superior, Rev. Sr. Gonzalo. Sister spoke words of wisdom and thanked them for their great service
